Not
too many changes in the past ten years since our last reunion. Ann and I still
live at Ptarmigan which is just west of Windsor, CO. I have continued to career
in community banking and did make an employment change 2 years ago as I went to
work for Wyoming State Bank which recently merged with Valley Bank & Trust
located in Nebraska and Colorado. I was asked to oversee the Nebraska operation
and, in a roundabout way, returned to the panhandle as I now office in
Scottsbluff/Gering and return home on weekends. The best part of my employment
change is that I can see my parents more often as they are still on their farm
west of Alliance. Ann and I have been married 28 years and enjoy a number of
social, community and outdoor activities.

I
retired from the Post Office at the end of 2008. Toward the end of 2009, I
started volunteering as a monitoring teacher at our church's homeschool co-op
where my son was in the 6th grade. I monitored 3rd grade at that time . .
. it was loads of fun! The following school year I monitored 2nd and 3rd
grade, and the following school year, I monitored 3rd and 4th grade. It
was all loads of work but really great fun and so rewarding.
For
family reasons, husband's health reasons, and schooling reasons, and just to
get off the rock, we decided in 2012 to make a move to Alliance, but it took us
until late 2014 to get here! Before making it to Alliance, I homeschooled
my son at home for his freshman and sophomore years; he then attended AHS for
his junior and senior years. He graduated this past spring and is now
attending Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, Missouri, and I'm starting to
feel the empty nest thing . . . .
In
2012, we had bought some land in Alliance to build a house on, but those plans
are still pending . . . (what were we thinking??) In the meantime, we
bought a small house in Alliance and getting settled in has been more
challenging than expected. After spending the past two winters in
Alliance, I've decided I don't really like the winter thing, so my husband and
I will be returning to Hawaii for the winter—we still have our home there—and
we'll see if snowbirding is to our liking. Since we're both retired, all
plans are subject to change . . . .

Wow
hard to believe that it has been 40 years! Seems like we just got done
with Freshman P.E. and won the camel fights we used to have. Just finishing
my 38th year at BNSF. Hopefully two more until retirement. Married
to the same hot Cheerleader from High School Patty Alvarado. The three kids are
all out of the house and married with four grand kids and my daughter is having
number 5 within the next three weeks. In my spare time I officiated high school
wrestling for 25 years with 4 State meets to my credit. Hope to do a lot of
traveling in retirement and completing my long bucket list. Hope to see you all
at the reunion.
